Call
for Abstracts Announcement:
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Tara Whitehill from
the University of Hong Kong and Dr. Terry Barrett from
University College Dublin will lead the presentations
at the Second International Conference on Problem-Based
Learning in Speech-Language Pathology to be held in Adelaide,
on November 13-14, 2008. At this early stage we expect
Dr. Whitehill to address the issue of tutor training and
Dr. Barrett will present on "The Hard Fun of PBL: Listening
to students' talk". We invite you to join these stimulating
presenters and submit your own abstracts for consideration
for the programme.
The
following themes and topics are suggested: Designing PBL
environments and scenarios Preparing students and teachers
for PBL Assessing student learning in PBL Strategies for
preventing/resolving conflict in PBL groups Incorporation
of new media in PBL Articulation of PBL with other styles
of learning Further suggestions welcome! Abstract format
Abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words and indicate
your preference for one of several types of presentations:
Papers (20 minutes + 10 minutes discussion) Discussion
(60 or 90 minutes) Workshops (60 or 90 minutes including
discussion time) and Snapshots (10 minutes + 5 minutes
discussion time).
List
all authors and their affiliations and indicate the presenter
in bold font. Please include a resume of no more than
50 words for the presenter. Requirements Please let us
know if you have any specific requirements for audiovisual
or other equipment (such as whiteboards). The conference
venue will be supplied with data projection, networked
PC, screen and microphone. Overhead projectors and A/V
equipment for discussion and workshop sessions will only
be supplied if specifically requested. All abstracts will
be reviewed and assessed by the conference planning committee.

submit your abstract to Ingrid Scholten via email: Ingrid.scholten@flinders.edu.au
by 1 July. The presenter will be advised about the acceptance
or otherwise of the abstract submission in August 2008.
The anticipated cost of registration is AUD $400 which
will include all snacks and meals during the conference
as well as a fabulous dinner on the final night! For further
